Seaweed and kelp in the feed ration for ruminants

Can seaweed and kelp in feed for ruminants both reduce methane gas emissions, and at the same time be a good substitute for soy flour? This is what Prabhat Khanal, associate professor at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Aquaculture at Nord University, department Steinkjer, has seen in the dairy barn at Mære. The preliminary results from the trial are promising.

"This is an exciting venture within blue-green cooperation, where we look at the possibilities of using other feed raw materials than what we have traditionally used"

Tove Hatling Jystad, head of Green competence center Mære-Skjetlein
