Food production in harsher climates

On behalf of the Green Competence Center Mære-Skjetlein and the project Climate Focus in Trøndelag Agriculture, NIBIO has written the report Climate adaptation in agricultural areas in Trøndelag. Climate risk and need for climate adaptation.

Below you can see a recording of the webinar held on March 13, 2026. In this webinar we take a closer look at how climate change is affecting Trøndelag agriculture – and what opportunities may lie in the changes. Lillian Øygarden and Till Seehusen from NIBIO present the main content of the report. Tove Hatling Jystad from the Green Competence Center leads the webinar.

You will get a simple overview of what climate change can mean for grain, roughage and vegetables in the region – both challenges and potential gains.

We also talk about what it takes to adapt operations in a good way. Here is knowledge about local soil, drainage, machine selection, tillage, correct varieties and practical agronomy central theme.

The goal is to give you a clear picture of what's coming – and concrete steps that can make the farm more robust in a changing climate.
